Two Teesside businesses, run by young entrepreneurs, have won places in the regional final of a national competition to find the next generation of superstar traders. The Little Vegan Market and Betty and the Lovecats were chosen after impressing the judges at the Youth Market, held at Middlesbrough’s Dundas Market. The Little Vegan Market – run by Charlotte Bottomley and Matthew Wilson – is already well-known to Dundas shoppers. Middlesbrough’s first vegan supermarket opened there just 12 months ago and has been so successful it has already moved to a bigger unit.

Generous staff and visitors to Middlesbrough’s Live Well Centre have raised £550 on Superhero Day for the TFM Cash for Kids appeal. Cash was collected at stalls selling cakes and tickets to win a prize in the tombola. A drive in a go-cart raised 50p per spin and TFM staff were present with donation buckets.

Young Teesside traders are taking over the Dundas Shopping Centre and Indoor Market later this month as part of a nationwide search to find the next generation of “super sellers”. On Saturday 15 June a dozen hopefuls – all aged between 16 and 30 - will be setting up their stalls for the Youth Market, where they hope to win a place in a regional heat and then compete for a spot in the national final where big prizes are on offer.
