Dundas Market is taking part in the high profile Love Your Local Market 2016 (LYLM) campaign.
Led by the National Association of British Market Authorities with full support from the wider markets industry and Government it will run from 17th – 31st May.
Located in Dundas Shopping Centre, Middlesbrough, Dundas Market will join over 1200 other markets across the country that are taking part in the LYLM campaign. As part of the LYLM campaign, Dundas Market will be rolling out its very own initiative which will see them offer units, rent-free for a week in the indoor market.
This 2 week test trade initiative will run alongside the LYLM campaign from 16th May – 28th May and will enable up to 10 businesses a week to trade from the Market, free of charge.
The Market will be decked in branded LYLM bunting and balloons and shoppers will benefit from competitions and special offers from existing traders. An online marketing campaign will also be rolled out to promote the activities.
“Markets are a hugely important part of the local community,” said David Harris, Manager of Dundas Market. “They provide an ideal base for independent businesses, selling everything from the everyday produce to a whole range of different products that other retailers on the high street often don’t stock. We are delighted to be able to offer this great opportunity.”
In addition to the LYLM activities, Dundas Market will also be hosting its Monthly Food & Craft Market on 27th and 28th May where it will be joined by a host of retailers including artisan bakers and jewellers.
Richard Dowson, Head of Economic Growth at Middlesbrough Council said, “We are really pleased that this programme of activities is encouraging our local community groups and business start-ups to participate in the Love Your Local Market campaign. It provides a great opportunity for businesses to test their products and services in a town centre location and inspire them to take the next step in their business growth.”
Interested parties are asked to apply for the one weeks rent-free space by completing an application form, which can be requested from David Harris at email@example.com or by visiting www.dundasshoppingcentre.co.uk/lylm and downloading a form.
